The "open list" publishes information about people repressed by the state for political reasons from October 1917 to 1991.
Many years after the events, we still cannot give the names of all the victims, give some exact number. This is not an accident. Many have no relatives left, no official data has been preserved about many people. The memory of the tragic events gradually goes away, while many names are not named, and stories are not told. In the “Open List” database, we strive to put together the largest number of known surnames and display them in an open format: with personal data verified by official sources (year and place of birth, date and reason for arrest, etc.) space for the publication of biographies and memories. Correction of errors in the database and its completion is a great job that we hope to accomplish with the help of voluntary editors and volunteers. We clarify the lists, personal data, add new names and stories. The database "Open List" is based on the principles of free publication and exchange of information. Our knowledge and memory of these people are the subject of public interest, and there should not be any restrictions on their distribution. |
